A Fast Start

After moving to Paris in 1983, Angelique Kidjo rose to be known as one of the hottest live performers in the city, and earned a record deal with Island Records. Her first album Logozo, released in 1991, reached Number 1 on Billboard World Music charts, and she embarked on a world tour. Since then, she has barely stopped, recording an impressive succession of albums to both critical and popular acclaim, especially Oyaya! in 2004, an addictive mix of Latin and Caribbean styles with African guitar. In 2007, she invited several well-known artists to contribute to her album Djin Djin, such as Carlos Santana, Alicia Keys, Peter Gabriel and Ziggy Marley. Kidjo's latest album, Oyo was released in 2010.
