Their third album, Cut the Cake, featuring the title cut as a single, also scored big. Then tragedy struck when drummer McIntosh died of a heroin overdose. Still, Average White Band picked up the pieces and pushed on, recording 18 more albums since, including Times Squared, Recorded Live at B.B. King's, released in 2009.
