He was invited to join the band New Grass Revival, with which he toured for nine years, while also continuing his solo career, releasing several albums through the 1980s, collecting his first Grammy Award nomination for his seventh solo album, Drive, released in 1988. Several Grammys were to come after Fleck left New Grass Revival and joined bassist Victor Wooten in forming the Flecktones. Several albums and half a dozen Grammys later, Fleck continues a heavy performing and recording schedule.
