After they released their debut album, you could pick any poison you wanted among their monumental music hits, such as the title track 'Poison', or 'Do Me!'. In addition, they brought on other hits like 'B.B.D. (I Thought it Was Me)', 'When Will I See You Smile Again?' and 'Dope!' Bell Biv DeVoe was, in fact, responsible for the R&B explosion of the East Coast Family, made up of such groups as Another Bad Creation and Boyz II Men.

They hailed a more urban Hip Hop sound fused with the fresh R&B that was so predominant of that age. Their beats carried more funk, and their lyrics and vocals were a whole lot sexier. It was about silk at that time, rather than a funky pop style more typical of the New Edition brand.
