Blink-182 back on tour, and back in the studio (Updated December 4, 2012)

Shortly after their reunion in 2009, the members of Blink-182 embarked on a tour of North America from July to October, supported by the opening acts of Weezer and Fall Out Boy. They later hit the European festival circuit in August and September 2010, but canceled a return trip slated for spring 2011.

Despite the feel-good story of friendships rekindled in the wake of the band's reunion, recording for "Neighborhoods," their sixth studio album, was delayed by a number of factors. First was the death of long-time producer Jerry Finn, which caused band members to record in separate studios in San Diego and Los Angeles. Then came the myriad of publicists, managers and attorneys involved in the recording process. Finally, DeLonge was diagnosed with skin cancer, and he later complained to Total Guitar magazine about a "loss of unity" within the band during the recording process for the album, which was finally released in September 2011 and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200.

Blink-182 has been around the world since its reunion, headlining the 10th Annual Honda Civic Tour with My Chemical Romance in late 20011. In 2012 the band embarked on its 20th Anniversary Tour, and is currently working on a seventh studio album. However, this will be an independent project, following their split with Interscope Records and Universal Music Group in October.

The band is slated to have an EP released on iTunes and through its website by December 18, and is currently scheduled to tour Australia in February 2013.

Known for their irreverent sense of humor, Blink-182 was formed in Poway, California in 1992 when Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus decided they wanted to start a band. Originally called Duck Tape, and later Blink, they added drummer Travis Barker to replace their original drummer Scott Raynor midway through their tour to promote their second album in 1998.

While the band's first album achieved moderate success, their next album, 1997's "Dude Ranch" sold over one million copies. Blink-182 tickets sold well. In 1999, the band reached the big time with their album, "Enema of the State", which went multi-platinum and reached number nine on the Billboard 200. The band enjoyed recognition due to their irreverent singles "What's My Age Again" and "All the Small Things," which reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100. On their next tour, Blink-182 tickets sold out. Their next albums, "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket", which reached number one, and self-titled "Blink-182" were also well-received.

The band went on hiatus in 2005 when DeLonge left to form Angels & Airwaves. Hoppus and Barker decided to form +44. The band reunited in February of 2009, and immediately began performing, starting with the 51st Grammy Awards, which saw Blink-182 take the stage for the first time since 2004. The band kicked off their reunion tour with Weezer and Fallout Boy. Blink-182 tickets once again sold out. Blink-182 has received numerous awards, including Teen Choice Awards, as well as MTV Video Music Awards. The band continues to receive award nominations.
