With the recent announcement that Jack Johnson would be part of the 2012 version of Farm Aid, it had me thinking - where has he been?
Johnson has not released a new album since 2010's "To The Sea" and has not embarked on an extensive tour since then, when he toured with a fellow native Hawaiian, Paula Fuga.
Johnson's shows typically garner hefty prices on the secondary market, largely in part due to the popular, mellow folk/surf rock he brings to the masses. It's escapist and transports you to a setting with sandy beaches, palm trees, crashing waves and the sounds of the ocean.
His Kokua Festivals over the years have been a huge success with Eddie Vedder, Dave Matthews, Ben Harper and Jackson Browne having played sets in various years.
As for solo touring, he just completed a sold out tour of the Hawaiian islands in May of this year.
As for new music, there has been no word, but he has released a new album roughly every 2 years since 2001, so one can hope that this trend continues.
