Canadian rock duo the Japandroids recently added a number of dates to their 2013 international tour. The band is already slated to perform at Bonnaroo, Governors Ball and Coachella this summer, and have fleshed out their tour schedule with additional dates starting May 27th at the Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee. Fellow mosh pit mavens A Place to Bury Strangers will open for six shows, including The Vogue in Indianapolis on May 28th and Emo's East in Austin on May 31st.
Japandroids was formed in 2006 by Brian King and David Prowse in Vancouver. The duo made a name for themselves by creating their own shows from scratch, from booking the venue to employing friends as roadies. They broke up in 2008, but re-formed in early 2009 thanks to interest from Canadian label Unfamiliar Records, who produced their debut album Post-Nothing. They released their second album Celebration Rock on Polyvinyl Records in May of 2012 and were praised in year-end reviews by both Pitchfork and Spin, who named them Band of the Year. Just recently, their song “The House That Heaven Built” became the Vancouver Canucks' entrance theme, sending them into the Canadian stratosphere of success.
