*UPDATE*
Missed Jay-Z's historic residency at the Barclays Center this fall? Undergoing HOVA withdrawal? Thankfully, Jay's got you covered - the rap mogul has just released a 25-minute documentary covering the buildup to his eight-show stint at Brooklyn's newest arena. Check out the video below, and let us know how you think it compares with Beyonce's own autobiographical doc when it airs on HBO February 16.
*UPDATE 10/5/2012*
Tickets are still available to the last of Jay-Z's shows at the Barclays Center this weekend, but in case you can't make it out to Brooklyn, Hova has you covered. The hip-hop star and mini-mogul will launch his new YouTube channel, Life + Times, Saturday night with a live stream of his final arena show.
Watching online means you'll miss out on the energy of a 20,000-strong singalong, won't be able to fully appreciate the lazer effects and Biggie slideshow that accompany the rapper, and will bypass entirely the superfluous but really cool oculus outside – but it also means no bathroom lines and significantly cheaper beer. It's your call as to which viewing experience is better, but thanks to Jay-Z's entrepreneurial spirit, the choice is there!
*UPDATE 9/28/2012*
Tonight's the night! To celebrate Jay-Z's big-deal, opening-night performance at Brooklyn's new Barclays Center, we've mocked up an infographic to show (in pleasant, green-and-yellow tones) the breakdown of ticket prices for the rapper's historic concert series. Check out which sections boast the most expensive seats, and which offer the best deals, below:
*UPDATE 9/24/2012*
We're just four days away from The Barclays Center's big opening night, and counting – ticket prices, that is. As we continue to inch closer to the controversial venue's christening, featuring Jay-Z as the official hometown officiator, we've decided to run the numbers behind the headlines. Spanning two weeks and eight concerts, Hova's stint at the Brooklyn arena is more like a mini-residency, a brief reign over the borough that begot one of rap's most respected stylists. So we wanted to know: What have fans of the New York hip-hop king been shelling out to see him live? The average prices for Jay-Z's Barclays Center performances are below – and, perhaps surprisingly, they're pretty tame. With most landing in the mid-$100 dollar range, tickets aren't exactly cheap, but still relatively affordable by true die-hard standards:
