Katy Perry has yet to fully announce plans for a 2012 summer tour following 2011's California Dreams Tour, but she won't be rusty once she finally hits the road. Perry has already made multiple live appearances in 2012, including performances at the 2012 Grammy's where she sang her hit single Part of Me. She performed the song again for television audiences Apr. 27 during Fox's American Idol, complete with a military-themed stage and a mass of backup dancers all decked out in uniform. Could this be a preview of what's to come this summer? It seems pretty safe to assume we can expect to see more of the same once she embarks on her 2012 summer tour.

5/21/2012: Katy Perry debuted her new single 'Wide Awake' off her Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection album last night at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas. Perry spent much of the performance suspended from the ceiling in what could easily have passed for a Cirque du Soleil show. She also wanled away from the awards show with some major hardware.
Perry won a Spotlight award for scoring five No. 1 hit singles from her Teenage Dream album. Perry was also extremely thankful during her acceptance speech saying:
"Thank you. They told me the only other person who received this award is Michael Jackson, so I feel incredibly honored. I always say the people have the power, so I want to thank all the glittering, gorgeous people out there. Rock on, KatyCats!"
Katy Perry Wide Awake Live Performance At Billboard Music Awards BMA 2012
It is being reported that Katy Perry will debut her new single Wide Awake at the upcoming 2012 Billboard Music Awards Sunday, May 20 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The Billboard Music Awards will air at 8PM ET on ABC. The song will also appear on the deluxe edition of Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection
It was announced this week that Katy Perry is in the running to replace former Destiny's Child group member, Kelly Rowland, as a judge on the The X Factor. According to one of the show's more permanent fixtures in Louis Walsh, the other likely candidates to takeover for Rowland are rocker wife Sharon Osbourne, Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, former Spice Girl Mel B and Anastacia. It is also rumored that Perry may be working alongside Indian actress and international superstar, Priyanka, on her debut album.

Katy Perry Tour Dates 2012
We expect Katy to announce her 2012 summer tour dates very soon. Her tour may coincide with the 2012 summer release of her own bipic/concert Katy Perry: Part of Me. The film was recorded during Perry's 2011 California Dreams Tour and will show a combination performances and behind the scenes footage. The film will be released Jul. 5 in 3D. Perry has signed an agreement with Pepsi to further promote the release of the film. Pepsi will launch an entire campaign to promote the Jul. 5 release of Katy Perry: Part of Me and will be offering fans the chance to attend the live premier in Los Angeles. Pepsi will also be streaming the premier live via web streaming.
