2013 marks the twenty-second anniversary of the first Lollapalooza, started by Jane's Addiction front man Perry Farrell. Lollapalooza 2013 will be held at Grant Park in Chicago, IL. The festival will take place over the course of three days, Friday August 2nd through Sunday August 4th. Lollapalooza initially began as a tour, but has since morphed into a three-day music and arts experience. The festival will be held on over 150 acres of land right next to Lake Michigan and includes a myriad of booths and exhibits to check out in between seeing your favorite artists. Concert-goers from last year were treated to great performances from the Black Sabbath, Passion Pit, Avicii, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Given the caliber of musicians at past Lollapaloozas, the 2013 lineup has the potential to be one of the best festivals of the year.
Lollapalooza Chicago Start/End Dates
- Starts: August 2nd, 2013
- Ends: August 4th 2013
N.B. this is for original festival but all dates can be found here and you can read about the festivals Southern American leg here.

Lollapalooza 2013 Tickets
Lollapalooza Sold Out Tickets
Have you bought your Lollapalooza 2013 tickets yet? No? Well, if you're hoping to pay face value for the three-day affair, you're most likely S.O.L. (pardon my French). Although tickets for the event went on sale just hours ago - at 10am CST - they were sold out almost as quickly. Currently, your only change to score tickets through the official website is by purchasing a travel package, which includes a three-day general admission ticket or a VIP Lolla Lounge pass. Although, we here said packages are diminishing quickly. For those who got shut out of the VIP passes (after a record-breaking three hours of being on sale before they were all gone), this may not come as such a surprise. These tickets are in HIGH demand this year, even beating out the massive ticket sales of 2012: last year's lineup was announced on April 11, and was officially sold out on May 23. Fortunately for you, SeatGeek knows a thing or two about the secondary ticket market. Here's a list of some of the best deals on secondary tickets available right now.
Three-Day Passes
Ebay: $389 - $501
Razorgator: $470 - $495
Ticket Network: $479 - $1,094
PrimeSport: $483 - $513
Redline: $491
UberSeat: $503
VividSeats: $528 - $633
StubHub: $1,699 - $444

Lollapalooza Early Bird & GA Tickets
On Tuesday, Lollapalooza 2013 began accepting orders for "early bird" discounted three-day tickets, and sold out in less than six minutes. Regular-priced three-day tickets sold out less than an hour later. Single-day tickets will go on sale April 9, along with the announcement of the full lineup. So far, the artists Angel Haze, Phoenix, Dirtybird Players Tour, Disclosure, Imagine Dragons, Reignwolf, SKATERS, The Killers, The National, The Postal Service, Vampire Weekend, Wild Cub, and Mumford & Sons have announced their attendance at Lollapalooza 2013.
Lollapalooza Ticket Prices
Primary Market

Secondary Market
It appears spec tickets are already being sold on the secondary market and are averaging $170, though this could be volatile once volume picks up.

Ticket info from 2012
In 2012, hardcore fans bought up the entire lot of early bird passes ($200) within minutes of them going on sale - before the lineup had even been released, . The high demand for the 2012 Lollapalooza has made ticket prices some of the most expensive of the summer.
Predicting Rumored Headliners
No Specific Order
The Throne - Kanye West is releasing his newest album "Cruel Summer" later this year. Producer Mike Dean acknowledged that a "Watch the Throne 2" album is in the works during an interview last May. Also, the Daily News published an article that Kanye West played his unreleased album at a New York City night club in early August, writing that "the 35-year-old rapper played a number of new tracks that sampled other music and included a similar production style (to the one) he used on his wildly successful album with Jay-Z last summer, 'Watch the Throne.'" Lollapalooza is a long ways off so who knows what will happen between now and next August.
Muse - First on our headliner "wish list" is Muse, an alternative rock band from England. The band is expected to release their next album "The 2nd Law" on October 2nd, 2012. "The 2nd Law" has been in the works for more than a year and is a follow-up to their 2009 album "The Resistance", which received 4-star ratings from most critics and notably incorporated dubstep elements.
Anthony Addis, the band's manager, announced that the band will be touring the United Kingdom throughout October and November. No US tour dates have been scheduled, but we would expect Muse's North American tour to begin in early March and lead up to a possible Lollapalooza performance.
Rolling Stones
David Guetta
The Killers - The Killers are releasing their next album on September 18th. The album is titled "Battle Born" and is their first album in nearly four years. This gap is the longest that fans have had to endure; as a result, it should be interesting to see how extensive their tour is. It wouldn't be too crazy to include them in the debate as a #1 or #2 headliner.
Eminem - Eminem has been making the music festival rounds over the last three years - performing with Dr. Dre at Coachella 2012, guest appearing with 50 Cent at SXSW 2012, and headlining at Lollapalooza 2011 and Bonnaroo 2011. We can only hope that Eminem will make a return to Lollapalooza in 2013.
Beck
Pearl Jam - The rock band has a busy schedule for the rest of 2012. Pearl Jam is finishing up their latest album, which was originally set to be released by the end of the year. They also have performances from Halloween to Christmas due to their postponed spring tour. Guitarist Mike McCready told radio station WFPK back in April 2012, “Were probably not gonna have anything out this year. Were trying to make this thing the best as possible that we can and we’re taking our time with it. Like a slow-cooked turkey [laughs]. I don’t know if that’s the right analogy.”
If all goes according, an early 2013 release date would signal a late spring or early summer tour, and possibly a performance at Lollapalooza in 2013.
50-Cent
Lady Gaga - Grammy singer Lady Gaga has not announced her US Tour Dates amid speculation over the last six months.
Depeche Mode - This Wikipedia excerpt pretty much sums up why we believe you will see Depeche Mode next June:
"During a DJ gig in Italy in November 2011, Andy Fletcher [bass player] revealed that the band were set to meet up in January 2012 to start planning the new studio album, their 13th, and said that they were aiming to commence recording in March with a tour to follow in 2012 and 2013. In an interview with German magazine 'Sonic Seducer', Martin Gore confirmed the album would be released in early 2013. On 2 March 2012, Dave Gahan stated that there are 20 songs demoed and Ben Hillier will be back to produce the album along with Martin Gore stepping up to co-produce. On 21 July 2012, Dave Gahan performed with Soulsavers to promote their recent collaboration. After the gig, Depeche Mode manager Jonathan Kessler announced that the new album will be released in April 2013."
Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan says "there are already plans in place to tour in 2013."
Foo Fighters - The band just headlined Outside Lands in San Francisco. Their tour dates are wrapping up towards the end of September. A winter hiatus and a spring tour would bode well for a performance at Lollapalooza in 2013. However, the group hasn't released an album since 2011 and may use the 2013 break in their schedule to head back to the studio.
Others - There are several other artists with scheduled album release dates in 2013 that may use the Lollapalooza Festival to launch their album headlining tours. 50 Cent ("Five"), Wiz Khalifa (" O.N.I.F.C."), and Kid Cudi ("Indicud") are all expected to release albums by 2013. U2, Grizzly Bear, and Bloc Party have also scheduled their album debuts for the next year, and could be potential candidates for Lollapalooza's 2013 lineup.
