Music Midtown News
Round out the festival season with the 2013 Music Midtown Festival! Held in Atlanta, GA, this festy has been around since 1994—but not without the same financial problems that seem to plague other large music gatherings (like Rothbury and Nateva). Music Midtown had a successful run from its incarnation in 1994 all the way through 2005, annually drawing crowds around 30,000. But the recession wasn't just affecting the little people, and due to decline in attendance the festy was put on hiatus until 2011. Luckily, the last two years have brought big-name acts like The Black Keys and Coldplay, and with them big ticket sales. It was estimated that 40,000 concert-goers were in attendance at this year's Music Midtown, perhaps due to headliners Florence + The Machine and Pearl Jam at the helm.
With the overwhelming success of the 2012 festival, Atlanta-dwellers can rest assured that next year will be better than ever. Located in the 10th Street Meadow at Piedmont Park, the festival is filled with food tucks, wine gardens, plenty of bathrooms, water, and booze. There are also ATMs on site so you can go blow your cash on merchandise and hippie vendors. With several VIP packages and “Early Bird” offerings, prices for the tickets range from $55 to $1,000. Last year's festival sold out, so be sure to nab your tickets off of SeatGeek when they go on sale!

Music Midtown Historical Ticket Prices
In 2011, the Music Midtown festival was only held over one day, and featured The Black Keys and Coldplay as headliners. Tickets for the event were around $85 on the secondary market, which isn't too shabby considering the average ticket price for Coldplay over the same time period was $206. In 2012, the event was turned back into a two-day affair: on September 21 the Foo Fighters, Avett Brothers and T.I. headlined, and on the following day Pearl Jam closed the show.
