In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Last Splash, nineties rockers The Breeders have announced a tour in which they'll perform the album in its entirety (kind of like what Yes just said they were going to do). We're big fans of '90s-era musical nostalgia, especially from a band fronted by Kim Deal who also performs in The Pixies. The tour kicks off on March 29 with a show at the Bell House in Brooklyn, NY, and wraps up on June 21 at the ATP Festival in the UK. They'll perform throughout North America until May 24, at which time they'll make their way to Barcelona for a slot at Primavera Festival in Barcelona.
When Last Splash was released in 1993, it quickly cemented The Breeders as top contenders in the rock band genre during that time. The album was the group's second effort, and in 2003 Pitchfork Magazine listed it at No. 64 on their list of The Top 100 Albums of the 1990s. The following year, Last Splash was certified Platinum by the RIAA. Listen to the album's hit single, "Cannonball," below (the video is directed by Spike Jonze and Kim Gordon, which makes it extra cool).
