To mark the 20th anniversary of her seminal debut album, Little Earthquakes, the
red-head who got many a 1990s coed through college (alongside Felicity) is releasing a new compilation CD and embarking on an international tour. The recordings on Tori Amos' new Gold Dust record are orchestral re-imaginings of the singer's hits from the past 20 years. Her tour through Europe – with one NYC stop – will also feature a live orchestra, as well as help from famed conductor Jules Buckley on select dates.
Amos' last album, Night of Hunters, was one of her most successful releases, earning the classically trained singer the distinction of being the only female to have ever simultaneously landed within the top 10 of Billboard's classical, alternative and rock charts. She may be looking to follow the success of that "orchestral pop" effort with another foray into the land of strings, adding a new dimension and hopefully depth to the singles fans have come to love. For the songwriter's US admirers, tickets to her only North American performance aren't available, and won't go on sale anytime soon.
