The advent of Rivers Cuomo’s 42nd birthday earlier in the month hasn’t kept the Weezer frontman from keeping up with the times. Cuomo and co. recently announced upcoming 2012 tour dates not through the Weezer website, but through the band’s YouTube channel. The no-frills albeit fan-conscious video of all 25 seconds lists Weezer’s July, September, October and November concerts to the fitting tune of “Memories,” the first track off the 2010 album, “Hurley.”

The lineup is heavily stacked with festival appearances, with two bonus shows rounding out the beloved ‘90s rockers’ four-month trek across the U.S. “Beloved ‘90s” may be a sentiment similarly shared by the group, whose albums during that decade so recently in redux vogue (see current spate of ‘90s Facebook memes and MTV2’s daily two-hour block of “Boy Meets World”) are among Weezer’s greatest successes. The band will play its debut album, “Blue,” in full at its second-to-last show in Miami, while “Pinkerton” – the commercial dud that found redemption as a cult favorite – will be the focus of the group's final show on November 11, 2012.

Rivers Cuomo yet again put his heart on a sleeve for everyone to see with the release of Alone III: The Pinkerton Years. The biggest treat of all - Rivers is releasing all of the goodness in book form for all to bask and glory in. All the pain, all the sadness, the painful leg surgery, and his thoughts on Japanese lady fans, unrequited lesbian love - it's all there. And chords too!
Weezer Tour Dates 2012?
So what's next for Weezer? Aside from their cruise from Miami to Cozumel (Wait what? You didn't get tickets? You can bunk with me!), nothing's on the docket for the quartet. It's no surprise that they're taking some time off. They last toured pretty much straight from September 2008 until October 2011. That included their Memories Tour where Weezer played back to back nights the Blue Album with Pinkerton. Weezer puts on some of the best live shows in music. Don't expect Pat, Rivers, Scott and Brian to be out of the limelight too much longer - expect an album soon and tour dates for 2012. Until then, check out this rad video for the cruise.
