Ticket Demand for UNC at Syracuse Basketball Game
When the ACC announced they were expanding with the additions of Syracuse and Pitt, this was the season most fans were excited about. While both squads have had their moments as competitors on the gridiron, it's been on the hardwood where both annually rose to the top of the old Big East and often made some noise during March Madness. And, though it's been known for a couple of years that this day would come, there's still a great sense of anticipation as the day finally approaches where a new ACC power meets a traditional one. Saturday, January 11, Syracuse will welcome the North Carolina Tar Heels to the Carrier Dome, and the No. 2 Orange have demonstrated thus far that they're unlikely to be hospitable hosts.
As much pomp and circumstance as their was surrounding the departure of these two teams from the Big East - especially Syracuse - there seems to be even more excitement over their entry into the Atlantic Coast Conference. Although this isn't their first ACC home game - that was last weekend against Miami - the UNC at Syracuse game is currently fetching the highest average ticket price we've seen for a Cuse home game ($135) since our tracking began in 2009. That's 10% higher than their final Big East home game against Georgetown averaged last year ($122). So much for sentiment; a new conference to dominate and national mountain to climb is always what gets fans really flooding to the court.
Average Ticket Prices for UNC at Syracuse Basketball
Ticket prices vary widely for Saturday's game depending on where you're looking to sit. A decent seat in the lower or middle level of the Carrier Dome will cost you upwards of $150, but there are options in the corners of the upper level starting as low as $19 per ticket. If you're looking to sit along the sideline in the lower level, be prepared to spend more than $200 for a seat; the least expensive tickets available there are currently listed at $213 each, but some fans have spent over $700 for the best seats in those sections.
Some tickets in the corners of the upper level are still available at the box office, but prices are actually lower on the secondary market for similar seats. Tickets in the middle and lower levels, originally sold for $45-$140, are sold out, leaving the pricier resale market as your only option.

ACC Basketball Team Rankings
At this admittedly early stage of the season, it's still surprising to see a newly expanded ACC with so few representatives in the Top 25 rankings. While Pittsburgh & Wake Forest still stand to make a run, Syracuse starts the conference schedule as the prohibitive favorite to win the title with Duke as the only other ranked team at this point.. This game against perennial contender North Carolina will prove to be a true benchmark test for their readiness in the conference.
