What comes next after "The Game of the Century?"
It's still unknown whether next steps will include rematch after LSU battled to a gritty 9-6 overtime win over Alabama in one of the most anticipated and most watched college football games in recent memory. But what certainly is next is a phenomenal Top-10 college football matchup this weekend in the Bay Area, as No. 6 Oregon will meet No. 3 Stanford on Saturday night in a clash of national title contenders.
As you might expect for a game that has been anticipated since the day Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck announced his decision to eschew the NFL Draft, the average ticket prices to Saturday's game have steadily risen throughout the season.
|Saturday 5:00 PM||Oregon Ducks at Stanford Cardinal Football Stanford Stadium – Palo Alto, CA tickets from $222|
With an average ticket price over the past 7 days of $302, the Stanford-Oregon game is the single most demanded matchup we have seen across in conference play across Pac-12 this season. At current prices, a ticket to Saturday's showdown would cost more on average than admission to any Stanford home game played within the past two seasons, as well as for Stanford's appearance in last year's FedEx Orange Bowl in Miami ($113 average ticket price).
While the ticket prices for this game don't quite reach the same price levels that LSU-Alabama tickets did (with average ticket prices the week before the game at an astronomical $606), Stanford and Oregon fans who anticipated the big matchup in advance and bought tickets ahead of time likely reaped substantial savings. The average price for Stanford-Oregon seats hovered below or near $100 for much of August and September before climbing steadily from the beginning of October on to today.
Despite the lofty average ticket prices, the get-in price for Saturday's game currently stands just above $100, with a handful of other ticket listings on SeatGeek currently priced below $150.
