Prince Goes North of the Border

Jump straight to Prince tickets >

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, Grammy Award winner and funk icon Prince announced that he will be taking his high energy show and Minneapolis sound back to Canada starting in November.  The “Welcome 2 Canada” Tour will cross the entire country with performances in 11 arenas starting with a two-night stand in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre on November 25th and November 26th.

The 11-date Canadian run will be the artist’s first since a May-June trek through Canada back in 2002.

The tour will end on December 17th in Victoria, British Columbia after hitting the cities of Halifax, Montreal, Kanata, London, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton and Vancouver.

The dates are an extension of Prince’s “Welcome 2 America” tour which took the artist to 14 cities in the United States from December 15, 2010 through May 29, 2011 for a total of 34 shows.  A second European leg of the tour kicked off a series of 23 shows back on June 30, 2011 that ran until August 17, 2011.  The tour to date has hit major cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, Oakland, Charlotte, Sacramento, San Jose, Paris, Amsterdam, Oslo, Dublin, Copenhagen, Budapest and Zurich.

Smashing Pumpkins to Rock Again Live in 2011

Smashing Pumpkins 2011 Tour

Despite the fact that Billy Corgan is the only remaining member of the original Smashing Pumpkins group still in the band, the Pumpkins are focused and back on tour this Fall. Rounding out the band’s lineup are Nicole Fiorentino, Mike Byrne and Jeff Schroeder, with the aformentioned Corgan still on lead (BTW, I am obsessed with this picture of Mr. Corgan that included above – it’s super cerebral or something…). With a new album set to be released in “late 2011″ titled Oceania it would be safe to expect a large portion of fresh tracks on the setlist for this Fall tour, with some of the classics intermixed for the fans that continue to be inspired by their goth/dream pop earlier tunes. If you look at some of their 2010 shows, classic hits such as Bullet with Butterfly Wings, Today and Cherub rock were on the Setlist. Below I have listed information on Smashing Pumpkins tickets, tour dates and ticket prices. Good like on your search.

Best Artists to See Live [INFOGRAPHIC]

Best Live Artists

Ever wondered which artists are the best live performers?

Here at SeatGeek we looked at overall popularity versus ticket revenue for a few well-known artists, who are currently on tour, to determine the best live artists. Popularity was measured by looking at the number of weeks the artist has made it onto the Hot 100 chart in the past 4 years, as well as their online fan base on sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and Last.fm. Ticket revenue was calculated by looking at the average amount of tickets sold per day on the secondary ticket market, in addition to their average ticket price during the past year. By doing this, we were able see if their popularity and concert sales lined up. This comparison revealed the best live artists on tour today.

Infographic on best live artists

The data showed that Dave Matthews Band was easily the most popular live concert this past year, relative to their popularity off the stage, suggesting that DMB is the best live artist to go see. Despite having zero hit singles make the Hot 100 in the past four years, more Dave Matthews Band tickets are sold each day than tickets to see Justin Bieber, who has occupied the charts for 157 weeks. Smilarly, the average price for DMB tickets is higher than both Taylor Swift tickets and Katy Perry tickets.

On the opposite end of the spectrum is Rihanna. Having occupied the billboard for 159 weeks in the past 4 years, as well as having one of the largest online followings of all artists, we found Rihanna’s concert sales to be shockingly low in comparison. Given her growing popularity, her low ticket sales suggest that she is not as impressive on the stage as she is in the recording studio.

Take a look at the graph to see how well your favorite artists do on tour, relative to their popularity. Once you’ve decided which bands and artists give the best live performances, head to SeatGeek to find the best deals on concert tickets!
