Week 6 is highlighted with some interesting developments in the Ticket Price Leaderboard in what seems to have been the most volatile week yet.

- The Packers jump up from 5th to 1st, with their price jumping up a good $35. The Packers are hosting the Dolphins this Sunday, but there might be some early buyers for the following weeks game, which will be a Sunday Night Game, against a divisional rival, that happens to have a certain once-beloved Quarterback and a new receiver.
- The Dallas Cowboys dropped out of the top-5 for the first time all year. Their overall price rose, but with the next home game being the Giants, it would have been normal for the price to rise much further than it did.
- The only newcomer in the top-12 are the San Diego Chargers, fresh off a loss that gave them their fourth strait 2-3 start to a season. Either their fans realize that the Chargers usually go on a run around this time of year, or are paying top dollar to see the Patriots come to town in two weeks. Although it is obvious that there is quite a gap between spots 11 and 12.
And now to the bottom-12.

- Talk about perception being reality! The Cardinals one a game by lucking into many fluky plays, while the Chiefs lost in a good showing in Indianapolis. The fans of each team, I guess, saw the real showing behind the result, as the Chiefs prices rose $13, while Arizona saw their prices fall $20 (although that could partially be explained by the fact that the Saints game skewed the earlier prices).
- Just to pat myself on the back again, the Chiefs prices continue to rise, as I predicted in my post detailing the Chiefs prices two weeks ago. The Chiefs prices are now over the century-mark again.
- The Bills prices continue to plummet, as they are selling barely over $60. Their prices may be more sad than the teams’ performance. For a team that is one of the premier candidates for a possible relocation, this is not a good sign.
The top-12 had a lot of transition. The Packers, despite a bevy of injuries, including a concussion to Aaron Rodgers that might put him in jeopardy for this Sunday’s game, rise. The Buccaneers, despite winning a close game on the road against a playoff team from a year ago, fall. Like everything else in the National Football League, parity reigns.

Fan overreaction is now behind us. We are now into the period where the fans’ reactions for the most part gel with the teams’ performance on the field. This allows us to better isolate other factors that may influence a team’s average ticket price, like large games that drive up prices, or extended road trips. Anyway, I’ll look into those factors later, and for now, here are the top-12 and bottom-12 teams in the league.
Top 12 NFL Teams by Average Ticket Price

- The Bears might not be given the credit of a team that is the lone undefeated team in the NFC, but their fans do believe. The Chicago Bears price might still be inflated due to two days of Packers tickets, but that price is still indicitave of a market paying top-dollar for a top-team.
- The most significant drop is the Saints falling from 3rd to 11th. After losing a tight home game to the Falcons, and despite having a home game coming up, the year-long honeymoon might finally have crested in the Big Easy.
- The Steelers are one of the most consistent teams on the field, and they are the most consistent in the ticket market. The Steelers gained a spot to 4th, as their ticket price was consistent, in gaining just $5 dollars.
- We analyzed the myth behind the Texans’ amazing ticket price. After losing at home to the Cowboys, as well as the fact that with the Cowboys’ game in the rear-view mirror, prices should come back down, the Texans just make the cut-off at number 12.
Bottom 12 NFL Teams by Average Ticket Price

- I guess Atlanta is able to pay for a good product. The Falcons were detailed each of the last two weeks for having a surprisingly low ticket price. Their rank is still low, but their average ticket price went up $21 after their huge win over the Saints.
- The Lions were the other team that was pointed for having the lowest ticket price each of the last two weeks. Somehow, with a third straight loss. Strangely, they don’t even have big home games coming up, as their next quality home game is on Halloween.
- It would seem that the Kansas City Chiefs are strangely falling mightily despite their 3-0 start, as their price dropped from $107 to $84, but that might be more due to the fact that they don’t play a home game until October 24th, and that game is against the Jaguars.
- The San Francisco 49ers enter the bottom 12 for the first time. After having loads of optimism surrounding the team coming into the season, their 0-3 start has brought up questions about their stability. It has definitely put the teams instability into question with the fans, as the 49ers have become the first team to feature in the top-12 and bottom-12 in the 2010 season.

I am back with another edition of the ‘Weekly MLB Ticket Price Rankings‘. I am cutting the introduction this week so we can just look at the data.
10 Highest Ticket Prices in the MLB (August 17 – 23)

- The Twins are #1 again, with an average ticket price of $71.00, while the Blue Jays held up at #2 with an average ticket price of $70.29
- The big surprise of the week came from the White Sox, who have risen 3 spots to enter the top 5, at #3, with an average price of $65.55 per ticket
- The Mets are back in the top 5, but this is attributable to the drop in other teams’ prices, not the rise of the Mets’ prices
- The Washington Nationals are a new entrant into the top 10 (check out our Nationals ticket prices page and you can see the uptick in their chart this week)
- The Giants were the only team to fall out of the top ten (see San Francisco Giants price details)
MLB Ticket Price Shifts

10 Cheapest MLB Ticket Prices

- For the second week in a row, the Brewers, Pirates and Angels have the cheapest tickets in the MLB
- Interestingly for consumers, average Angels ticket prices continue to fall and are now less than $20 – at 87% of face value for their next home game!
Thanks for reading, let me know if you have any thoughts on the rankings by commenting below. In particular, does anyone have insights as to why prices in general are on the decline with many teams in the top 10? Why are Yankees prices so low? Why have White Sox prices been rising over the last few months?
