The Boise State football program began in 1932.Boise State was originally an junior college that eventually moved up to the NCAA in 1969 at the Division II level. The Broncos made the leap to Division I-A (currently known as the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS)) in 1996. Boise State had enjoyed a recent string of success under coach Petersen. The Broncos finished the 2006 and 2009 seasons undefeated and went 12-1 in 2010. The Broncos' only loss that season was a 34-31 overtime defeat to Nevada. Overall the Broncos have won 16 conference titles, including eight WAC titles in nine seasons.
