What does it take to slip the name of a popular singer-songwriter from the 1970's back into the mainstream? If your name is Bonnie Raitt, the admiration of superstars like Adele, Katy Perry, Lady Antebellum and Kelly Clarkson will do the trick quite nicely.
The contingent mentioned above includes just a few of the artists who have covered Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me," originally released in 1989. This new generation embracing the 'old' music of a champion of American roots-music has pushed Raitt back into the collective conscious of music fans in the United States and around the world.
Evidence enough of Raitt's renewed popularity was her Grammy win in the Best Americana Album category at the 2013 Grammy Awards. The trophy was for 2012's "Slipstream," Raitt's first album on her own record label, Redwing, after four decades with major labels like Warmer Bros. and Capitol. It was praised by critics as her best project in years and one of the best of her 40-year career. It became the best-selling Blues album of 2012, and made Raitt the best-selling Blues artist of the year.
Raitt has 18 solo albums to her credit overall, and has been featured on projects by everyone from B.B. King to James Taylor. She's been credited as an inspiration and one of the main reasons bands and women instrumentalists are at the forefront of the music industry.
Re-energized, Raitt's "Slipstream" tour is crisscrossing the globe with classics, covers and plenty of her new songs. It includes stops in the U.S., Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, England and more.

The nine-time Grammy Award Winner has continued to impress fans and critics throughout her long career and was even inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March 2000.
