Born Yesterday News: Regular Season and Preseason Updates
Born Yesterday was written and first directed by Garson Kanin on stage before it was adapted into a blockbuster film in 1950. The plot chronicles the events that happen after a corrupt tycoon, Harry Brock, brings his showgirl mistress, Billie Dawn, with him to Washington, D.C. After comedian Judy Holliday originated the role of Billie Dawn on Broadway, the play has been remounted several times starring an eclectic array of talented performers such as Melanie Griffith and Madeline Kahn. Fans anticipate the next revival, set to go into Previews on Broadway in late March, 2011 at the Cort Theatre with opening night scheduled for April 24th, 2011. The production will be directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes and will star Emmy Award nominee Jim Belushi as Harry Brock and Tony Award winner Robert Sean. Fans of the script also can look forward to newcomer Nina Arianda's performance as Billie Dawn. Although it's been decades since the play was written Born Yesterday tickets remain highly coveted among theater lovers.
