About Britney Spears
Spears is the 'X Factor' for Fox (Updated April 17, 2013)
The rehabilitation of Britney Spears continues. With a reported salary of $15 million as a judge for "X Factor," she was the highest-paid celebrity on a singing competition series in television history. But it didn't stop there. Spears worked closely with and mentored the Teens category on the show, and her final act, Carly Rose Sonenclar, was named runner-up of the season.
Just a few years ago, the thought of Spears mentoring teenagers in any capacity seemed far fetched. But the songstress has rehabbed both her professional and personal image, and was one of music's top earners of 2012, pulling in an estimated $58 million. She also got back on track musically, and was featured on will.i.am's song "Scream & Shout," which was released as a single fro his album, "#willpower." It later became Spears' sixth number one single on the UK Singles Chart and peaked at #3 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Spears is currently working on her eighth studio album, which will released under the RCA label due to the disbandment of Jive Records. Tentatively scheduled for release in fall 2013, it will be her first release since comeback album "Femme Fatale" in 2011. Rumors have been flying that Spears is working with Wiz Khalifa on the project, though she's remained mum on any possible collaboration between the two.
Spears recently made a special guest host appearance at KIIS FM's annual concert Wango Tango 2013. The event was hosted by Ryan Seacrest at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California.
Spears turns Toxic
Having roots in the deep South often lends itself to blues, rock n' roll, gospel and jazz. But a blonde haired, brown-eyed Britney Spears was raised in Louisiana and before too long would take the entertainment world by storm, spinning off her membership in The Mickey Mouse Club to become one of pop music's biggest sensations and most controversial performers.
It was 1992 when Spears joined the likes of Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera on a variety show with an ever-changing cast of child performers. She would make the move from the Mickey Mouse clubhouse to pop phenomenon in short order, recording demo tapes that landed her a deal with Jive Records. By 1998 Spears released her debut single, '?Baby One More Time,' including a video in which the star and her dancers were outfitted in miniskirts and midriff-baring tops that only slightly resembled a Catholic school uniform. Her debut album of the same name dropped the following year and topped the charts for six weeks, spinning out hits like, '(You Drive Me) Crazy,' and 'Sometimes.' A year later came the sophomore effort, 'Oops! I Did It Again,' which set a new record for single-week sales by a female artist and went on to move 9 million units inside a calendar year.
If Spears was 'Lucky,' as one song title would suggest, she was also living and performing in a 'toxic' environment. Her relationship with former Mouseketeer and *N Sync heartthrob Timberlake was instant tabloid fodder. When it fizzled out, so did the greater interest in Spears. Though her next two albums also debuted at number one, the singles didn't fare as well and Britney found herself competing with an up-and-coming set of teen queens like Michelle Branch and Avril Lavigne.
Spears' personal life since that time has also arguably garnered more headlines than her music. Though fans never had an image of the songstress as a wholesome, free-spirited young woman, the paparazzi were relentless when Spears was photographed nearly every day while scantily clad and constantly smoking. Her bizarre two-day marriage to a childhood friend only fueled the fire, as did Spears' marriage to former backup dancer Kevin Federline. The two would have two children together, star in a reallity show, divorce and end up in a long string of custody battles ultimately decided in Federline's favor. And Spears appeared to hit a new personal low with an incident at a salon in California in 2007 in which she shaved her head with a pair of electric clippers, causing her to seek treatment at various rehab facilities.
The ongoing turmoil in Britney Spears' life continued, but eventually with more peaks than valleys. She has a total of seven studio albums to her name, including 2011's 'Femme Fatale,' which became her first album to yield three Top 10 singles in the United States. On December 16, 2011 she confirmed her engagement to her long-time boyfriend Jason Trawick, and has recently joined the new season of the FOX reality show The X-Factor as a judge.
Britney Spears Tickets - Artist History
Britney Jean Spears was born December 2, 1981 in McComb, Mississippi. Spears was raised in Kentwood, Louisiana and began performing at age three when she was chosen to dance a solo at her dance school's recital. Spears enjoyed the experience so much that she continued to enter (and win) many state-level competitions and talent shows. At age eight, Spears auditioned for the 1990 revival of The Mickey Mouse Club, but was rejected for being too young. The audition was not in vain, however, as they were so impressed with her at the casting that they referred her to a private performing arts school in New York City, where Spears soon began studying. Britney Spears began her professional career shortly thereafter, appearing in an Off-Broadway show, as well as numerous commercials, and even Star Search. In 1992, Britney Spears was finally called back as a member of The Mickey Mouse Club and her career took off.
Britney Spears Tickets - The Music
In 1997, Spears was being considered to be a member of an all-girl band, when family friend and entertainment lawyer Larry Rudolph decided that he wanted to pitch Spears to record labels. Britney Spears recorded her demo, and was picked up by Jive Records. Britney Spears' debut album ...Baby One More Time was released in 1999, and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Britney Spears tickets were a hot commodity, especially after that same album was certified two-times platinum after just one month. Britney Spears released her second album Oops!... I Did It Again in 2000, and the album once again debuted at number one. Britney Spears tickets for the tour sold quickly. Her third album, Britney, released in 2001 contained a much edgier sound than her previous records. In 2003, Britney released her fourth album In The Zone contained more of her instant hits, including 'Toxic', 'Everytime', and 'Outrageous'. Spears began touring to support her new album in March of 2004. The tour quickly reached a halt, as she fell, injuring her left knee during a shoot for a music video. Spears underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair the damage, and was forced to remain in a thigh brace for six weeks, followed by twelve weeks of rehabilitative therapy. Spears cancelled the tour. It was around this time that Spears met Kevin Federline. The pair married in September of 2004, shortly thereafter Spears announced that she would be taking a career break to start a family. Sean Preston Federline was born in September of 2005. Jaden James Federline was born in September of 2006. Spears and Federline split in 2006 citing irreconcilable differences. After their break up Britney went through a period where she entered rehab for personal resons, shaved her head, and broke the window of Federline's SUV with an umbrella.
Britney Spears Tickets - Tour Information
In 2008, Spears released Circus, which once again debuted at number one on the Billboard charts. She followed this release with her tour 'The Circus Starring Britney Spears', and Britney Spears tickets sold quickly. In the United States, Spears became the youngest female artist to have five albums debut at number one, earning a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. She also became the only act in the Soundscan era to have four albums debut with 500,000 or more copies sold. In 2011, Britney released her seventh album, Femme Fatale. Spears has been nominated for eight Grammy awards and won her first in the category of Best Dance Recording for her single 'Toxic' in 2005. She has also won four MTV Video Music Awards and sixteen Teen Choice Awards.
