About Brooks and Dunn
Brooks and Dunn remain successful solo acts (Updated June 19, 2013)
Unlike most duos and groups whose split and/or retirement status is often shoved to the back burner in favor of big, bold reunions … the chasm of Brooks & Dunn remains firmly etched the annals of country music history.
Still, fans of the duo needn't fret. First and foremost, the solo careers of Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn have included albums by each artist (Brooks' "New to This Town" and Dunn's self-titled debut for Arista Nashville). And behind the strength of the single "Bleed Red" Dunn's debut came at the very top of the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, as well as number 5 on the Billboard 200.
While both singers were also ready to take that leap, asserting 100% creative control over their own projects, Brooks especially has other things in the mix. Not only does he serve as host of the syndicated radio show American Country Countdown (aka ACC Top 40), he expanded his portfolio when he started a new overnight radio show called "Kickin' It with Kix." The show runs five nights a week on over 4,000 Cumulus Media affiliate stations across the United States.
Not to be out-Dunn (pun intended), Ronnie surprised country music fans leaving the CMT Awards on June 12, 2013 with a surprise set from the rooftop of a nearby restaurant. He played four songs, including new single "Kiss You There" during the performance, with video projected onto the walls of three nearby restaurants. During the set, a flash mob of line dancers also invaded the surrounding streets.
Though the radio gigs, solo projects and unconventional advertising may be a downer to Brooks & Dunn fans holding out hope for a reunion, that both men remain active in country music is a sign that we should never say never.
About Brooks and Dunn
Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn are the two men that made up the most successful duo of all time in any genre, Brooks & Dunn. They debuted in 1991 with their first album, "Brand New Man" and became certified six-times platinum. Fruition has followed Brooks & Dunn with hits like "She's Not the Cheatin' Kind," "My Maria" and "Red Dirt Road." The duo has won two Grammy awards and countless other honors over the course of their 20 year partnership. They retired after their final concert in Nashville in the fall of 2010, but you can count on us for Brooks & Dunn tickets if they ever decide to make a comeback.
Known for their high-energy shows, smooth blend of honkey-tonk and mainstream country and the revival of line dancing thanks to the song "Boot Scootin' Boogie," everything stamped with the Brooks & Dunn name in the early 90's turned to gold. Songs like "My Next Broken Heart" and "Neon Moon" quickly climbed the charts to No. 1, and pretty soon the pair had more hits than they could fit in a headlining show. "Hard Workin' Man," "That Ain't No Way to Go" and "Rock My World (Little Country Girl)" are just a few of the tracks that helped make the duo a true commercial success.
Brooks and Dunn won every Country Music Association (CMA) Vocal Duo of the Year award every year between 1992 and 2006, except for 2000. They captured two Grammys for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group, had their song "Only in America" used in numerous presidential campaigns, and when they weren't making music of their own, collaborated with artists like Reba McEntire on "If You See Him/If You See Her" and "Cowgirls Don't Cry."
The duo closed out an unbelievable career at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on September 2, 2010 with that aforementioned single, "Brand New Man," during the encore. The sold-out show was the final date on their Last Rodeo Tour and also served as a fundraiser for the County Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Both artists continue to record for Arista Nashville label as solo artists.
