Bucknell Bison Football Tickets - History
The Bucknell football program began in 1883. It began when Bucknell, called University at Lewisburg at the time, took on visiting Lafayette College. Lafayette won the game, 59-0 and Lewisburg didn't play again until 1887. By 1918, Bucknell had a more formidable team and had its first of three perfect seasons. Bucknell won its first Lambert Cup at the Division II level in 1960. The Lambert Cup is given to the best college football team in the East each year. The Bison won its lone conference title in 1996. Bucknell also played in the first Orange Bowl in 1935, where they defeated Miami, 26-0.

Bucknell has called Christy Matheson-Memorial Stadium home since 1924. The 13,100-seat stadium is located in Lewisburg, PA. It is named for Christy Mathewson, a Bucknell graduate who went on to a Hall of Fame Major League Baseball career. Lewisburg High School's football team also calls Christy Mathewson Memorial-Stadium home.
