    Carolina Chocolate Drops Tickets - Nothin' But a Band of Banjos

    And that's a whole lot of fun, to be honest. The banjo is the quintessential country-style throwback guitar. And introducing the Carolina Chocolate Drops, a trio of string players that turn the banjo into an instrument of Heaven. These banjo players actually met in 2005 at the Black Banjo Gathering over at Appalachian State University in North Carolina, and the rest is history -- especially when the trio was able to land a record deal through the Music Maker label in 2006.

    Their first album released that 2006 was a debut entitled Dona Got a Ramblin Mind. It received huge acclaim and prompted another album in 2010 under a different label -- Nonesuch -- with the title of Genuine Negro Jig.

    You can see right away that this band fills a very specific niche, which makes the Chocolate Drops so incredibly prestigious. With their banjo playing, they emphasize that love of bluegrass music mixed with something called 'jass' music, a little bit of 'jug' music, and some prehistoric country and rock styles. The Chocolate Drops are so much fun to watch with their old-time outfits and fiddler style, only with the banjos.
