Chicago White Sox News: Regular Season and Preseason Updates

Jose Quintana continued his string of strong performances as he helped lead the Chicago White Sox to a close 3-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. Quintana pitched 6.2 strong innings, allowing two earned runs on eight hits and two walks. He also added four strikeouts over the course of his 105 pitches to earn his fifth victory of the season. Offensively for Chicago, Alejandro de Aza and Dewayne Wise each drove in runs in the winning effort. Overall, however the White Sox managed just seven hits but were a solid 2-5 with runners in scoring position.Gavin Flloyd will get the ball on Wednesday night for Chicago.

Jose Quintana pitched well enough to earn his fourth win of the season as he led the Chicago White Sox to a 2-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night. Quintana lasted seven innings, surrendering two earned runs on five hits and two walks. He also added five strikeouts over the course of his 105 pitch outing. Offensively, AJ Pierzynski provided all of the offense, adding his 63rd run batted in of the season thus far. While the White Sox only managed seven hits, they got the big one when it counted. Overall, they were 1-4 with runners in scoring posting. Jesse Crain and Brett Myers combined for two strong innings out of the bullpen to seal the deal.

Jake Peavy pitched very well and helped propel the Chicago White Sox to a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night at Target Field. Peavy pitched eight strong innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits and two walks. He also added eight strikeouts over the course of his 114 pitches en route to his ninth victory of the season. Addison Reed came in for the ninth, and while he needed 24 pitches to complete the deed, earned his 18th save of the season thus far. Offensively, Adam Dunn, Alejandro de Aza and Tyler Flowers all drove in runs in the winning cause.

Adam Dunn blasted his MLB leading 30th home run of the season on Tuesday night and his four runs batted in helped propel the Chicago White Sox to an 11-4 victory over the Minnesota Twins. Starter Jose Quintana lasted 6.1 innings for the White Sox, allowing four earned runs on eight hits and a walk. He also added a strikeout over the course of his 108 pitch outing. Besides Dunn's HR and 4 RBI's, Paul Konerko and Alexei Ramirez each went deep in the game, while Dayan Viciedo and Alex Rios each also drove in runs. Overall on the day, the team was 3-10 with runners in scoring position.

The Chicago White Sox battled back to score three runs in the top of the 9th inning on Thursday night to beat the New York Yankees 4-3 in the first of their four-game series at Yankee Stadium this weekend. Dayan Viciendo hit a three-run home run off of Yankee reliever David Robertson to give the White Sox the lead and the eventual victory, and the win went to Jose Quintana. On Friday night, Jake Peavy will head to the mound for Chicago to face the Yankees' Hiroki Kuroda in the second game of the series. The White Sox, at 41-35, are currently 2.5 games ahead of Cleveland for the AL Central lead.

The first-place Chicago White Sox will face a major test this weekend as they begin a three-game interleague set against the Los Angeles Dodgers out at Dodger Stadium on Friday night. The White Sox will send Chris Sale to the mound against Clayton Kershaw. Sale has been Chicago's best pitcher to this point in the season, and his 8-2 record to go along with a stingy 2.05 ERA are among the best in the league. At 34-29, the White Sox hold a 1.5-game lead over the second-place Cleveland Indians, who were swept this week by the Cincinnati Reds.

The Chicago White Sox, winners of 7 of their last 10 games and in first place in the AL Central at 32-25, are fueled by the bats of Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko, two players in their lineup who are experiencing a major resurgence as of late. Dunn, with 18 home runs and 39 RBI, leads the team in both of those categories, while Konerko is tops in the league with his .371 batting average. On Friday night, the White Sox will begin a three-game interleague series against the Houston Astros, a team that will permanently make a move over to the American League next season.

Winners of 9 games in a row, the red-hot Chicago White Sox are coming off of back-to-back three game sweeps of the Cleveland Indians and the Tampa Bay Rays and currently find themselves at the top of the AL Central with a 29-22 record. The scorching bat of Paul Konerko has fueled the White Sox on their rise to the top, and his .381 batting average is the best in baseball, to go along with his 11 home runs and 33 RBI. Adam Dunn has also been going through a resurgence of sorts, and his 16 home runs and 37 RBI is already vastly improved from his disappointing numbers in 2011.

5/2/12 - Starting pitcher Jake Peavy of the Chicago White Sox has been voted American League Pitcher of the Month for April. During the month, Peavy posted a 3-1 record with a 1.67 ERA with two complete games and 1 shutout over five starts. He also threw consecutive complete games and has allowed two runs in 25 innings over his last three starts, including a streak of 17 consecutive scoreless from April 18-28 according to ESPN. Peavy is looking to bounce back from an injury-filled 2011 campaign where he went 7-7 with an ERA of 4.92. Others receiving votes included Seattle's Felix Hernandez, Texas Rangers teammates Yu Darvish and Colby Lewis, and Anaheim's Jered Weaver.

Youngster Chris Sale gave the Chicago White Sox another solid start in a 7-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night. Sale pitched six innings of one run ball, giving up only three hits and walking one over 88 pitches. He also added three strikeouts to move to 3-1 with a 2.81 earned run average on the season. A.J. Pierzynski added his fifth home run of the season in the second inning off Cleveland starter Ubaldo Jiminez, giving him 18 runs batted in already on the year. Phillip Humber, just two starts removed from his perfect game, will get the ball for the White Sox on Wednesday.

Just when people throughout baseball thought that history was repeating itself after his rough season in 2011, Adam Dunn has gotten hot and helped the Chicago White Sox to a 10-8 record through the first 18 games. While his batting average still sits lower than he would like it at .235, he has already contributed four home runs and 14 RBI's on the young season, including a two home run day against the Seattle Mariners. Paul Konerko has also gotten off to a great start, hitting .357 with four HR's and 13 runs batted in. The White Sox will host the reeling Boston Red Sox in a three game series this weekend.

While most of the attention in the American League Central has been focused on the slugging Detroit Tigers, the Chicago White Sox have quietly put together a solid 3-2 record to open the season. Paced by slugging first basemen Paul Konerko's .450 batting average and catcher A.J. Pierzynski's two home runs, the Sox have scored 20 runs so far while only giving up 19. Reliever-turned-starter Chris Sale was very good in his first Major League start, allowing just 1 run in 6.2 innings while striking out five. The team will have an early season test against the aforementioned Tigers when they travel to Detroit this weekend for a three game series.

Chicago White Sox Tickets - Season Info

The Chicago White Sox had a monster of an offseason. Adding slugger Adam Dunn from the Washington Nationals will certainly help bolster their offense. Add that to an already solid pitching rotation and the White Sox should be right in the mix at the top of the AL Central.

Chicago White Sox Tickets - Ticket Information

Chicago White Sox tickets ensure that fans see the White Sox playing top contenders throughout the entire MLB season. After finishing second in the AL Central in 2010, the White Sox are looking like divisional favorites in 2011. With matchups with great teams like the Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers and non-divisional meetings with the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees throughout the season, the White Sox will have plenty of opportunity to test themselves against top talent in 2011. Be a part of this great tradition and don't miss the action!

Chicago White Sox News- June

The Chicago White Sox defeated the Seattle Mariners with a 5-1 win Tuesday night. With a 13-2 record against Seattle since the beginning of last season, the Sox will attempt to complete a three-game sweep against the Mariners.

The Chicago White Sox finished up last week with a winning series against the Athletics. After a postponed game Tuesday and a loss on Wednesday, the White Sox are hoping to finish up the Twins series with a win before taking on the D-backs.

The Chicago White Sox had a promising week, with a 2-1 series against both the D-backs and the Cubs. So far this week the White Sox suffered a loss against the Rockies, but will get two more chances to redeem themselves. The White Sox also reached an agreement this week with Central Arizona College outfielder, Keenyn Walker, their first pick in the June amateur draft.

Since July 1st, the Chicago White Sox have acquired 3 wins and 3 losses. Good pitching and little hitting has lead to many close games for the Sox.

After coming off a losing series against the Twins, the White Sox were able to finish 2-1 against the Tigers this past weekend. This week they will be in Kansas City, hoping to finish with another winning series against the Royals before heading to Cleveland.

The White Sox have won 4 out of the last 5 games, a good place to be before beginning their series against the Red Sox this weekend.
