About Dada
Dada Tickets - Not Like the Police, But Close!
That was the '90s for you: all about imitation. However, back in 1990 when a little-known band called Dada came out and was labeled to be 'a lot like the Police,' there was a wonder if this band was ever going to get big. Believe it or not, the band made it big.
Dada Tickets - The Music of Dada
Their debut album was called Puzzle, and it was released in 1992. That's the puzzling part of all of it, too -- in that it was merely an updated version of the guitar pop sound originally innovated by the revolutionary Police in the '80s. Still, the single 'Dizz Knee Land' really made it big for Dada, and it prompted another album release: American Highway Flower in 1994. 1996 saw the release of El Subliminoso as well as a self-titled LP in 1998.

Like the Police, they epitomized that poppy guitar sound that was so prevalent in the '80s -- except they did it in the '90s! Bad thing? Probably not. This is the music industry, after all, and we love all the throwbacks. Except that Dada was definitely not a throwback. They just loved that type of music and played it well. And there's nothing wrong with that.
