Dawes Tickets - Band History

Dawes hail from Los Angeles, California and formed in 2009 out of the ashes of post-punk band Simon Dawes. Soon after, they signed with prestigious label ATO Records and in August 2009, released North Hills to high praise from many critics. The album peaked at number 23 on Billboard's Heatseeker chart and its single When My Time Comes helped the band gain considerable buzz. It was not until 2011, however, when they released Nothing is Wrong, that their growing renown was reflected in commercial success. Nothing is Wrong peaked at number 64 on Billboard charts in the U.S., and also hit number 10 on Independent Albums charts and number 5 on Folk Albums charts. The album was once again met with significant approval from critics, but this was not surprising, considering that it was a fairly high octane release, featuring guest vocals from Jackson Browne. It also helped land them on as a support for Browne and Alison Krauss on several tours. The band continues to gain momentum furiously, so be sure to grab you Dawes tickets before everyone else.

Dawes Tickets - The Music

Dawes play Laurel Canyon folk, which means they are easily comparable to the likes of Jackson Browne and Crosby, Stills and Nash. Their music features grand sounds that incorporate yearning vocals and expansive guitar solos. Front man Taylor Goldsmith is also known for his brilliant lyrics that put love and life into poetic rhythm. One of the best lines from Nothing is Wrong comes from A Little Bit of Everything, where Goldsmith schmoozes, All these psychics and these doctors, they're all right and they're all wrong. It's like trying to make out every word, when they should simply hum along.
