About Digable Planets
Digable Planets Tickets - Reaching the Core of Jazzy Hip-Hop
THe '90s was definitely an age of experimentation and discovery, especially when it came to music. New sounds and fusions were explored all over, and without a doubt one trio of talented music artists formed in 1991 decided to come out with something slick; the name of the trio was none other than the Digable Planets. Signing with the Pendulum subsidiary of Warner, the Planets went into musical orbit with their very first album in that same year.
Digable Planets Tickets - The Music Rocket to Outer Space
The first album was entitled Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space), and with the help of their lead single 'Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)' raving the airwaves, the album was hailed as a critical and commercial triumph. In 1994, the Planets launched to the far reaches, yet again, with their second album, Blowout Comb. It was a much stronger album than the first, featuring fewer samples, more creativity, and even some solos to boot.
Digable Planets Tickets - What It Sounds Like to Visit the Planets
Like utter space-age technology at its finest -- why? The title up there says 'Jazzy Hip-Hop.' The fact was that was their inventive fusion. Jazz and Hip-Hop. While the Planets, though, were not the first to bring the two genres together, they certainly did it better than any other band out there. There was a coffee shop feel and aura about them that was very much a jazz atmosphere -- with hip-hop added in, they kicked up the beat and made everyone bob their heads. Nothing wrong with that!
