Do a quick web search for 'the Eagles,' and you're likely to pull up information on a National Football League franchise based in Pennsylvania, the national symbol of the United States or even airline tickets. Then there's the American rock band formed in California in 1971, comprised of Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner. Collectively, the aforementioned group is one of the most successful musical acts of the last few decades, identified by its country and folk sound blended with a traditional rock and roll style. The result has been five one number one singles, more than a dozen Top 40 hits and six number one albums. Add to the haul six Grammys and five American Music Awards, and the Eagles' accomplishments were more than enough to land them in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. Success came slow and steady for this group, which released a self-titled debut album in 1972. It produced the hits 'Take It Easy,' 'Witchy Woman,' and 'Peaceful Easy Feeling.' The freshman project also contained two of the band's most popular tracks, 'Desperado' and 'Tequila Sunrise.' Sophomore effort 'On the Border' followed in 1974, and the band gained more ground with 'Already Gone' and its first number one, 'Best of My Love.' But it was 1975 when the Eagles' popularity soared with the release of the album 'One of These Nights,' yielding three Top 10 singles, including 'Take It To the Limit.' The 1976 album 'Hotel California' was an even bigger success, selling over 16 million copies in the U.S. alone. The Eagles have broken up, reunited and toured intermittently since 1980. In 2007 they released 'Long Road Out of Eden,' their first studio album in 28 years, and toured to support the project the following year. The band is still set on making new music and will play the MGM Grand on November 17, 2012.
