About Erykah Badu
First Lady of Neo-Soul, Erykah Badu, first hit the music scene in 1997 with the release of her debut album Baduizm. Her sound has been compared to that of Billie Holiday. The album eventually went triple platinum and the lead single “On & On†won big at the Grammys in 1998. Badu has released several albums since then, including her first live album, Live, which reached number four on the Billboard charts. Badu has said she hit “writer’s block†after releasing her album Mama’s Gun in 2000. Through several years of different musical events, Badu released New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh) in early 2010.
