There couldn't be any better way to describe that for the man born Erik Schrody, also known as Everlast. The truth was he was only a part of the remarkably popular '90s rap group that helped bring the white rapper phenomenon to the forefront by the name of House of Pain. Everlast obviously had something more going on. Once the House of Pain closed its doors, Everlast became everlasting with his solo career in 1998.

It was a platinum success when Whitey Ford Sings the Blues entered the stores with the chart-topping single 'What It's Like' smashing the air waves. He became so popular that legendary Carlos Santana wanted a collaboration with him on a single that would be featured on the guitarist's comeback album Supernatural. That obviously prompted Everlast to work on a follow-up to his success, titled Eat at Whitey's, in 2000. Upon some of his unique success with both albums, Island/Def Jam Records took notice and signed him for the third album under his belt in 2004 called White Trash Beautiful. Only four years later did Everlast come back yet again for a fifth album called Love, War and the Ghost of Whitey Ford, an album featuring a cover of Johnny Cash's astronomical song 'Folsom Prison Blues.'

What made Everlast such a household name was his ability to not only rap with the best of them, but to work a guitar like magic. He also had a magnetic and deep voice that seemed to work well with that guitar and knew how to turn his voice into a country-style jam infused with a bit of hip-hop. That mainly was his appeal. And people loved that appeal.
