Florida State Seminoles Basketball News: Regular Season and Preseason Updates
Florida State Seminoles Basketball Tickets - Overview
1/17/13: The Seminoles basketball team was looking for a repeat of last season when they hosted and embarrassed the North Carolina Tarheels by 33 points - limiting UNC to just 49 points. History did not repeat itself, as the Tarheels stormed back in the second half for a 77-72 win. The Tarheels P.J. Hairston led all scorers with a career high 23 points. FSU was led by Okaro White's 15 points, all in the second half. The Noles are now 10-6 on the season and 2-1 in ACC play - good for fourth in the standings. Their next game is January 19 at Virginia.
11/29/12: FSU entered the season ranked 25, but immediately surrendered that honor by losing to South Alabama. The Noles won four straight games over marginal talent before finally losing again to No. 21 Minnesota. FSU unexpectedly upset the blue bloods in the ACC last season and won the conference tournament. That set expectations high for this season, though the results have been mixed. Florida State plays Mercer next, which may be a warm-up game for the showdown against University of Florida on Dec 5. While the stakes are not as high, perhaps FSU can get some vengence on the Gators.
11/22/12: FSU Basketball looks like they are righting the ship. After being upset by South Alabama in the opener, the Noles have won four straight against Buffalo, BYU, St. Josephs, and North Florida. Micheal Snear has stepped up as the undisputed leader of the team, and scored 17 of his 21 points against North Florida in the second period, ensuring the FSU victory. The schedule gets tougher from here on out. The Seminoles start play in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge this week, opening up against the University of Minnesota. FSU will host the No. 7 Gators on December 5.
11/15/12: Fortunately it is very early in the season. The defending ACC basketball champions, FSU, inexplicably lost their opener against South Alabama 76-71. Hopefully FSU fans were too busy with the football team to notice. They did extract revenge by routing the University of Buffalo 95-68, but that should be the norm, not the exception. Next up is BYU. The Seminoles will play the Cougars in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic in Brooklyn, New York on Friday, followed up by a game on the day before Thanksgiving against the University of North Florida. No need to panic yet, just chalk up that first loss to early season jitters.
