About Gang of Four tickets

The English post-punk band Gang of Four have always been about subversion?that is, telling it like it is, the way they see it, without catering to networks' or labels' objections. Their songs, simply orchestrated rhythmic punk often laced with funk, have tended toward commentary on the ills of society in the lyrics, and can sometimes come off rather jarring for squeamish listeners. That's the way Gang of Four prefers it and they have not been wont to compromise their message, even at times when it meant losing a chance to play on Britain's BBC program because the producers insisted they tame their lyrics. Gang of Four were formed in 1977 in Leeds, England, with singer Jon King, guitarist Andy Gill, bassist Dave Allen and drummer Hugo Burnham. The band's debut album, Entertainment! was ranked number 490 on the Rolling Stone list of '500 Greatest Albums of All Time.' Gang of Four toured and recorded heavily until 1984, scoring hits with their punk anthem '(Love Like) Anthrax,' but also with subsequent singles like 1978's 'Damaged Goods,' 1981's 'What We All Want,' the cuttingly satirical 'I Love a Man in Uniform,' banned by the BBC during England's Falklands War. Gang of Four came back together in the 1990s for a few years, but disbanded again before reforming in 2004 with the original lineup and playing a UK tour.
