Goldas Balcony News: Regular Season and Preseason Updates
Written by William Gibson, Golda's Balcony tells the life-story of Golda Meir, a Russian immigrant who went from being an American schoolteacher to the fourth Prime Minister of Israel. The plot focuses on the period surrounding the Yom Kippur War, when Israel was attacked by Egypt and Syria. Controversially suggesting that Golda Meir threatened Nixon and Kissinger with nuclear weapons against her enemies unless the U.S came Israel's aid, this intense one-woman show wowed audiences and became the longest one-woman show in Broadway History in 2003. Starring the dynamic Tovah Feldshuh under the direction of Scott Schwartz the show ran for 493 performances at the Helen Hayes Theatre. Feldshuh, the sole actor in the piece, won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Solo Performance and was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play that same year. As Golda's Balcony remains Gibson's most impressive scripts fans seek Golda's Balcony tickets in hopes of a revival.
