Jedi Mind Tricks Tickets - They Definitely Use the Force
Deep in the underground heart of Philadelphia, you'd be pleasantly enthralled with the makings of a hip-hop duo comprised of Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind and Vinnie Paz (also known as Ikon the Verbal Hologram). They were called the 'Jedi Mind Tricks.' Nifty. Needless to say, they garnered the attention of one label in 2003, Babygrande, before gathering a cult following for some of their earlier works.
Jedi Mind Tricks Tickets - The Music of the Jedi Mind Tricks
The official contracted studio album for the Jedi was Visions of Gandhi/i>, including the song 'Animal Rap.' As typical in the hip-hop community, it received a lot of praise. 2004 was the year that they immediately followed up with another album entitled Legacy of Blood, and it made blood boil all over. Before long, you had the Jedi Mind Tricks featuring a lot of appearances in their work -- from 7L, Esoteric, and Apathy, to Tragedy, Khadafi, and Louis Logic. They later stayed on with the Jedi Mind Tricks practically permanently, featuring one of the only hip-hop 'supergroups' to do their stuff both in the studio and on stage. 2006 hailed the release of this new supergroup with the album Army of the Pharaohs: The Torture Papers. All the while the original Jedi Mind Tricks also released their own Servants in Heaven, Kings in Hell. The hip-hop duo also released A History of Violence in 2008.

Call them a modern version of N.W.A. if you will, but it was clear hip-hop was reaching an underground, gangsta-style feel reminiscent of all the Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre days. There is, of course, nothing wrong with that!
