About Josh Ritter
Josh Ritter Tickets - Band History
Josh Ritter, hailed by many as one of modern music's great folk artists, was born in Moscow, Idaho in 1976. He exhibited an interest in music from an early age, and in college, studied American history by way of folk music. In 1999, he released his debut album Josh Ritter, and was eventually noticed by Glen Hansard of The Frames, who invited him to play shows in Ireland. In 2000, he released Golden Age of Radio, which caught the attention of record label Signature Sounds. From there, things began to fall in place for Ritter. In 2006, he releasedThe Animal Years, which featured hit single Girl in the War and was dubbed the album of the year by renowned writer Stephen King. During this time, he began to receive recognition from various prestigious sources, including his idol Joan Baez, who went on to record a version of Ritter's song Wings. He also performed on late night shows and toured the world, earning him mainstream attention. In 2011, he released So Runs the World Away, which peaked at number 41 on Billboard charts in the U.S., but number 1 on Billboard Folk charts in the U.S., as well as Irish Indie charts. He continues to gain attention, as well as embark on world tours.
