The Story of Kansas tickets

Though the rock group Kansas has been compared to other progressive rock bands of the 1970s, such as Genesis, Yes and King Crimson, Kansas definitely forged a sound all their own. With a violin and two keyboards, their orchestrations and timbres gave their music a complex, layered texture not often heard in rock. Kansas began in 1970 with Dave Hope on bass, Phil Ehart on drums, and Kerry Livgren, guitars and keyboards, who were from Topeka, Kansas. They were joined by singer Steve Walsh, vocalists Lynn Meredith and Joel Warne, and keyboardists Don Montre and Dan Wright. Robbie Steinhardt later joined on vocals, violin, viola and cello, and the band singed with Don Kirshner to record their debut album, Kansas in 1974, immediately defining their sound with sophisticated musical arrangements, changing time signatures and layered vocal harmonies. They began building a loyal following with the release of two more albums, Song for America, which included the title single, a longtime fan favorite, and Masque. But the band's real success came with the 1976 release of Leftoverture, which included the Top Ten hit 'Carry On Wayward Son,' followed closely by Point of Know Return with the hit single 'Dust in the Wind,' an anthem that has been much covered over the years, as well as 'Point of Know Return.' Several hits have followed, including 'People of the South Wind,' 'Hold On,' and 'Lonely Wind,' as Kansas has continued performing and recording through the years. Kansas tickets are a chance to see one of progressive rock's defining bands, though one with a sound all its own.
