About Kathy Mattea
Kathleen Alice Mattea worked as a tour guide, demo and back-up singer, before capturing public attention after her third album release in 1986. Her unusual mix of American country and bluegrass, combined with her Celtic flare put Kathy Mattea tickets on the must have list. As a social activist, Mattea has participated in Voices that Care, a united and successful attempt to raise funds for allied troops during the Gulf War, is active in HIV/AIDS charity efforts, and committed to education regarding global warming and the environmental and physical effects of the coal mining industry.
