This Skilled Bluesman is a Mainstay on the Music Scene (Updated November 28, 2012)

Skilled bluesman Kevin Moore, -- known by the stage name Keb' Mo' -- is a Grammy Award winning artist from Los Angeles currently residing in Nashville, Tennessee. The moniker "Keb Mo" was coined by his original drummer, and later picked up by his record label as a 'street talk' version of his given name.

An accomplished guitarist at an early age, Keb' Mo' was heavily influenced by gospel, folk, rock, jazz, pop and other genres of music. He started his career in a calypso band, but played mostly blues through the 1970s and 80s as part of a R&B outfit later hired for a tour by Papa John Creach. As a result, Keb' Mo' played on three of Creach's albums and opened for the likes of Jefferson Starship, Mahavishnu Orchestra and Loggins & Messina.

Keb' Mo' cut his first solo album, "Rainmaker," in 1980. The record label promptly folded, however, and it would be another 14 years before he officially put that early debut in his rearview mirror. A self-titled album bowed in 1994 and featured two Robert Johnson covers, "Come On In My Kitchen" and "Kind Hearted Woman Blues." His second album, "Just Like You," won Keb' Mo' his first Grammy Award.

With 13 albums to his name, including two with live recordings and one released as part of the series "The Blues," the artist continues to divide his time between film projects and music. He is heralded for live shows that often include electric, acoustic and resonator guitars, including a red custom Fender Stratocaster and a Red Hamer guitar with Gibson P-100 pickups. His latest shows have included Les Falconer on drums, Vail Johnson on bass guitar and Michael Hicks playing keyboards and organ.
