LFO Tickets - They Were the Lyte Funky Ones
Clever name, don't you think? In the age when boy bands became the phenom, LFO was a boy band that stuck out just a bit. First off, they weren't N'Sync by any stretch; and they definitely weren't the Backstreet Boys. They weren't even the UK smash act Five. Truthfully, this trio of cute guys Rich Cronin, Brad Fischetti, and Defin Lima, made themselves an act without following a certain stereotypical boy band formula. Needless to say, music mogul Lou Pearlman -- the mastermind behind N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys, and also at one time the bus driver for the New Kids on the Block -- signed the trio to a record deal in 1999.
LFO Tickets - The Music of LFO
The chart-topping smash hit 'Summer Girls was released in 1999 and was received so well that the debut album absolutely had to be released as well. Another hit featuring a rather sexy Jennifer Love Hewitt called 'Girl on TV' also sparked interest in LFO. After selling two million albums, four million singles, and performing for over two hundred concerts in the year of 2000 alone, it was obvious that the second album was coming, and it did: it was called LIFE IS GOOD. To this day, nixing the idea of explosive success and longevity for some boy bands -- like N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys -- LFO continue to be icons in the boy band industry in terms of creativity and invention.
LFO Tickets - The Sound and Style of the Lyte Funky Ones
What set LFO apart from the other boy band outfits was the fact that they loved to wax poetics about such things as 'girls that wear Abercrombie & Fitch' and a sort of New Jersey R&B mentality. They weren't all about bubblegum poppy dance music. It was about something that wanted to make you bop your head. It was light, it was fun, and it was catchy. It was LFO.
