A cynic might say that second place is the first loser, but don't tell that to American Idol season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina. She released her debut album, 'Wildflower,' on October 11, 2011 through 19/Interscope/Mercury Nashville , juggling the American Idols Live! Tour while recording tracks for the project in three major cities. It was the type of pressure that artists twice her age might've buckled under, but Alaina handled the whirlwind and her newfound fame like a pro.The country format was never a question for the teen, who tackled songs like Sara Evans' 'Born to Fly,' Idol veteran Carrie Underwood's 'Flat on the Floor,' and Lee Ann Womack's 'I Hope You Dance,' during the TV competition. The lead single to her album, 'Like My Mother Does,' peaked at No. 2 on Billboard's Country Digital Songs chart and No. 36 on the Hot Country Songs chart. The follow-up, 'Georgia Peaches,' climbed to No. 28, a respectable debut for a talent as young and as raw as Alaina. The Georgia native has been living life on the road since leaving Idol behind. She was selected to open for Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party tour to kick off 2012, then was picked up by Sugarland for a select number of dates on their In the Hands of the Fans tour. On June 16 she headlined the final show of Riverbend, a music festival in her hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The fall will find Alaina on the bill at various state and county fairs, including the Appalachian Fair in Gray, Tennessee on August 23 and the Tuscarawas County Fair in Dover, Ohio on September 19.
