All 'Hands' on deck for Victoria Hesketh - AKA 'Little Boots' (Updated December 18, 2012)

Her name betrays her tiny feet, but Victoria Christina Hesketh – better known by her stage name Little Boots – makes up for it with a really big voice. The English electropop singer-songwriter's bubbly personality and drive to succeed has resulted in tracks as infectious and ear-catching as those produced by some of music's biggest names.

Hesketh's story isn't new. Like a lot of other artists she took music lessons at a young age, then made a name for herself by writing her own songs and posting covers on social networking sites. Her online following led to increased media attention, and by the time she was ready to release her debut album (2009's "Hands"), she was compared to other breakthrough female artists like Lady Gaga, Florence and the Machine and Lily Allen.

The first single from her freshman release was the single, "New in Town." It became a Top 20 hit, while the follow-up, "Remedy," climbed into the Top 10. Critical response was positive across the board, and on June 9, 2009 Boots released an EP entitled "Illuminations" in the U.S. and Canada. She was eventually named a 2009 artist to watch by Rolling Stone magazine and nominated for a Critics' Choice at the BRIT Awards.

Boots spent 2010 and 2011 working on various mixtapes like "Shake Until Your Heart Breaks" and "Into the Future." She has also toured internationally, with stops at events like the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and is putting the finishing touches on her second album. She has told various publications and media outlets she hopes to do proper European and American tours and get back to Japan and maybe even Australia in 2013.
