The year 1980 was a good year for the genre of R&B when on January 22, singer Lizz Wright was born in the little Georgia town of Hahira. Her love for music actually reached her at an early age with her father serving as pianist and music director for the local church. It was there that her taste for classical hymns became a part of her spirit. Over time, blues and jazz enveloped her musical repertoire, and in no time Wright was working hard to get a foot in the music industry door by joining the vocal quartet called In the Spirit. It was in the year of 2002 when Verve took notice and inked her a deal for her major solo debut.
