About Lucero
Lucero Tickets - Band History
Lucero began in 1998 in Memphis, Tennessee. Their first official release came in 2000 with The Attic Tapes, which the band put out by themselves. Their next two albums found backing through Madjack Records. One characteristic of Lucero is that they are an avid touring band, as they average somewhere between 150 to 200 shows a year. This can be credited for much of their early fan base, as well as their eventual signing to Liberty & Lament Records, with whom they released four albums. In between Rebels, Rogues and Sworn Brothers (2006) and 1372 Overton Park (2009), their hard work was noticed by major label Universal Republic, who picked the band up. 1372 Overton Park was thus released via Universal Republic, allowing the album to peak at number 114 on U.S. Billboard charts, and number 2 on Billboard Heatseeker charts. After 11 years, the band is finally beginning to see their sweat and blood pay off. Make sure to get your Lucero tickets, as the band has a reputation for being solid live.
Lucero Tickets - The Music
Lucero play a brand of southern rock-infused alt-country. For the majority of their career, they have been known for a certain sound: Vocalist Ben Nichols' gritty vocals layered over mid-tempo - often slow - country ballads. On 1372 Overton Park, however, the band has taken on a more lively punk rock sound, flanked by brass instruments. Sound of the City is a perfect example of this. It features heralding trumpets, gravelly punk chords and loud, romantic lyrics. Many say that Lucero is bringing roots music to the punk rock scene, and it is not hard to see why they are right in their assertion.
