About Maroon 5
Maroon 5 Exists Outside of Rock 'n' Roll Norms (Updated November 28, 2012)
Once dogged by the perception that they were simply a boy band, the members of Los Angeles-based outfit Maroon 5 went to great lengths to change their image. Fronted by the tattooed and chiseled Adam Levine, the band – which has also included guitarists James Valentine and Sam Farrar, keyboardists Jesse Carmichael and PJ Morton, bassist Mickey Madden and drummer Matt Flynn-- set out to get the message across it writes and performs all its own music and exists outside the rock 'n' roll norms.
By the close of 2010 and post-release of "Hands All Over," Maroon 5 had produced the smash hit "Moves Like Jagger," which premiered live on NBC's "The Voice" on June 21, 2011 and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 by September. By that point, the band was everywhere. Levine was already serving as a vocal coach on "The Voice," would eventually sign on to recur in an FX television series and was later cast in the film "Can a Song Save Your Life?"
With Levine's star shining bright, the band plowed through and into 2012 at a breakneck pace. They released their fourth studio album, "Overexposed," on June 26, calling it their "most diverse…album yet." The first single, "Payphone," debuted at number 3 on the Hot 100, and the follow-up "One More Night" beat out the international sensation of PSY's "Gangnam Style" to top the charts for nine weeks.
Maroon 5's "Overexposed" World Tour played around the globe until Levine had to return stateside for the third season of "The Voice." Despite being back behind the judge's chair, Levine and the band have announced the third single from their current project is going to be "Daylight." They've also revealed they've started work on their fifth studio album.
Maroon 5 is currently scheduled to ring in 2013 with back-to-back shows at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, and will play some dates with Owl City and Neon Trees in 2013.
About Maroon 5
Maroon 5 has had continuing studio success since 2002 with the release of their album "Songs About Jane" and their concert tickets have been no exception. It took awhile for the first single "Harder to Breathe" to pick up ground, but it eventually made it into the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 singles. In 2006, Maroon 5 released their second album "It Won't Be Soon before Long" that features the hit single "Makes Me Wonder." This song was the number one single and video on iTunes before it was ever released for airplay. Maroon 5 continues to release albums such as "Hands all Over" in 2010.
