Mayday Parade began in 2005 in Tallahassee, Florida. The band signed to Fearless Records early on and released an EP (Tales Told By Dead Friends), followed by a full-length, A Lesson in Romantics in 2007. Shortly after the recording of A Lesson in Romantics, however, vocalist Jason Lancaster would leave the band due to conflicts with some of the members. Lancaster would go on to form Go Radio, and his vocal duties in Mayday Parade would be taken over by Derek Sanders. In 2009, the band released Anywhere But Here, which was fairly successful, charting at number 31 on Billboard charts in the U.S. In 2010, the band played on the Fearless Friends Tour alongside Breathe Carolina, Every Avenue, Artist Vs. Poet and Go Radio, during which Lancaster joined the band on stage to perform Miserable At Best. That same year, the band would become the most avid touring group according to Songkick, beating out the likes of Lady Gaga for the title. In 2011, Mayday Parade released their self-titled album via Independent Label Group.
