The Story of MLB All-Star Game tickets

The Major League Baseball All-Star Game is known as the 'Midsummer Classic' for a good reason: it's the annual celebration of excellent baseball skill and talent, a game with all the best stars from every team gathered on the same field, National League versus American League. The game takes place on the second Tuesday in July, this year on July 12. The roster, which will include many familiar names, as well as some newcomers, is selected by fans, players, coaches and managers, who will vote for the participants up to June 30, and will decide the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award, presented during the game.

All-Star Origins

The MLB All-Star Game was first played in 1933 as part of the World's Fair in Chicago, Illinois. Originally intended as a one-time event, the game's popularity was so successful that it became an annual event, and other sports co-opted the concept as well. The game venue alternates between the two leagues each year. This year's game will be played at Chase Field in Arizona, home of the Diamondbacks, the first time that franchise has hosted the game.
