A History of Motley Crue tickets

Their name says it all, and since they began performing in 1981, the four members of Motley Crue have done everything possible to draw attention to their motley ways. Legendary for their wild antics on stage and off, Motley Crue has built a massive following almost as much for their head-banging, hard-partying, devil-may-care lifestyle as for their heavy-hitting, thick-metal rock music. And though they have chilled out some in their off-stage lives, their concerts are still a wall of insanity that they've always been known for. A Consistent Theme

Motley Crue began as the quartet of guitarist Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee, who founded the band, then added guitarist Mick Mars and lead singer Vince Neil. They headlined around the Los Angeles heavy metal club circuit until they recorded their first album, Too Fast for Love in 1981, which had modest success on the Billboard album charts and continued attracting fans. Though it didn't bring them stardom their debut album established the band's sound, a throbbing, driving, amped-up metal rock that grabs hold and forces you to move, or else. That sound, which has served Motley Crue quite well, has remained consistent throughout their 30 years of performing, to the delight of their fans, who can depend on the Crue to give them exactly what they expect every time. Motley Crue's second album, Shout at the Devil, in 1983, elevated them to the next level, not only due to the controversy they incited with suggestions of devil worship. They scored hits with the singles 'Looks That Kill' and 'Too Young to Fall in Love,' as well as 'Shout at the Devil,' which became a favorite at their live shows. By now, Motley Crue was joining the ranks of Poison and Def Leppard in the top ranks of glam-rock bands known for their heavy face makeup, large, teased hair, trend-setting clothing and partying ways. By the time they released their third album, Theatre of Pain, in 1985, hit singles were expected, and 'Smokin' in the Boys Room' delivered. However, the band showed a touch of expansion with the power ballad 'Home Sweet Home,' another hit single from their third album. Motley Crue contined to deliver the goods through the rest of the decade, scoring more hits with their albums Girls, Girls, Girls in 1987 and Dr. Feelgood in 1989.

Settling Down

Though the members of Motley Crue tamed their partying some after a decade of heavy drugs and drinking (including near overdoses and near-fatal car accidents), they continued to live up to their name. Tommy Lee was arrested for indecent exposure during a tour in Cincinnati, and singer Vince Neil was arrested for inciting a riot in Milwaukee. No matter, their fans continued to flock to their shows, and that hasn't changed, even after 30 years. With the release of the movie The Dirt, an autobiography of Motley Crue, the band is back in the headlines, reunited, working on new tunes, and packing concert venues again.
