Time for another concert review, readers! This time I am going to take you back to the 90s when the “boy band” phenomenon was sweeping the nation and teen girls everywhere were doing anything and everything possible to get tickets to their favorite band’s show.
The Backstreet Boys were one of the top contenders in the 90s for boy band success. They sold eight million copies of their self-titled debut and 32 million copies of their second album release “Backstreet’s Back”. Eventually though, the boy band era faded in 2001 and along with it went the Backstreet Boys.
But fans remained loyal, which brings us to today. The Backstreet Boys have reunited (minus one – Kevin Richardson) for their “This is Us” tour. After reading several reviews from different sites, I have come to the conclusion that the comeback tour is an overall hit. If you are a Backstreet Boys fan, this concert is definitely for you.
According to the reviews I read, the “Boys” perform mainly all of their songs from the 90s. It is fairly obvious that the fans prefer the older material. Those songs are the ones that made them famous after all, right? They provide great dance moves to keep the audience’s excitement level up and there are numerous costume changes throughout the entire show. The audience is over 90% female, so if you men out there are thinking about going with a sister, a daughter, or a girlfriend, keep this fact in mind.
Of course, with the positive there must be some negative. One review of the show said that the stage set could definitely use some screens around the venue because fans in the back are not able to see much of the show. One commenter on the same review post said, “Everything was great except the seating arrangement which I felt didn’t do much justice to those who paid quite a bit.”
Now let’s compare the Backstreet Boys’ concert to another highly anticipated concert of the summer – Justin Bieber. He is one of the most talked about artists right now and he is about to embark on his “My World” tour. Of the tour, Justin Bieber has said, “I want to show that I love to perform. There are going to be some cool tricks, some electronic things that haven’t been seen before, for sure.” The funny thing is, even though the Backstreet Boys are from the 90s, their tickets do not lag far behind teen sensation Justin Bieber and are even equal in price during some August tour dates.
The team here at SeatGeek has created a chart to show the range of prices for the “This is Us” and “My World” tours over the next three months and hopefully this will help you, the consumer, decide when to buy concert tickets and how much to pay.
